UNESCO Global Forum Against Racism and Discrimination

On March 22, the UNESCO Global Forum Against Racism and Discrimination was held online in Paris, France. The event was co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Korea with UNESCO to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (March 21) as a follow-up to the Global Call Against Racism adopted by the 210th UNESCO Executive Board. High-level speakers, including UNESCO Secretary-General, South Korea's Vice Foreign Minister, and the UN Human Rights Representative, participated to point out the current situation of racism and discrimination in the world, and to discuss proposals for strengthening partnerships and roadmaps for anti-discrimination.

SHIN Gyonggu, Senior Advisor for Human Rights & International Affairs of Gwangju Metropolitan City (Director of Gwangju International Center) said in an opening video that Gwangju will work together to oppose racism and discrimination as the chair city of UNESCO Asia-Pacific Coalition of Cities Against Discrimination (UNESO-APCAD).
