Solidarity for Advancing the Universality of Human Rights in Sport

Graham Spacey [Senior Lecturer, De Montfort University]

1. Introduction: Sport is currently a misguided tool

Sport can and has made fantastic contributions to the world. It brings a roller coaster of emotions to the fan; purpose to the athlete; health benefits to participants; a story for the journalist; and a job for the coach. It can bring a community together and unite people in a way that few other spheres of human life can.
