The Role of Human Rights Cities in Fighting Racism and Discrimination

Carolina Cosse

Racism and discrimination are a structural element of the culture of privilege that still persists and is reproduced in our countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, deeply affecting the rights of people from highly vulnerable groups such as migrant populations, women, girls, children and adolescents, the LGTBI population, among others.

Networks such as the Latin American and Caribbean Coalition of Cities against Racism, Discrimination and Xenophobia and Mercociudades, have been dissemination platforms for these actions, also contributing to sensitize Latin American public opinion on the values of solidarity and respect for human rights and to social and cultural differences.
