The 10th World Human Rights Cities Forum  - Local Memories and Global Sharing

The second day of the forum was a busy one with Special, Thematic and Network sessions taking place at the same time.

There were three Thematic Session on topic as Social Economy, Environment and the Elderly. Network Sessions covered the Anti-Discrimination and UN Sustainable Development Goals and Human Rights, while the Special sessions covered diverse themes such as State Violence and Trauma, Korean Network of Cities of Memory, Human Rights Paper presentation, Global Youth Session on the Right to Housing and International Human Rights Policy.

Social Economy

Theme: Establishing a Sustainable Social Economy: Community Spirit

The session brought together local and global experts who shared their insights on the post COVID-19 exit strategy.

State Violence and Trauma

Last century was a period of state violence in many countries. In the processes of gaining independence and democracy many people were killed and survivors were left traumatized. Today's session was focused on transitional justice and better ways of pursuing it while investigating its therapeutic potential.

UN SDGs and Human Rights

The session examined Gwangju's achievements as a local entity on UN Sustainable Development Goals and Human Rights while in-depth discussions included governance structure for local governments human rights policies and ways to strengthen partnerships with relevant stakeholders.

Environment

Theme: Nuclear Power Plants and Human Rights.

With the Fukushima nuclear accident still fresh in the collective mind the forum discussed the issues of state and corporate responsibilities and their response action status related to the human rights issues involving nuclear plants.
