Cities Against Violence

The Cities Against Violence initiative highlights and analyzes how cities worldwide have resisted various forms of violence, including state violence. Exploring the historical and contemporary significance of this resistance, the initiative fosters international solidarity and inspires effective peacebuilding strategies. This is particularly timely, coinciding with the 45th anniversary of the May 18 Democratization Movement, a pivotal moment in Korea's struggle for democracy and human rights. By providing a platform for cities to share their experiences and strategies, the initiative promotes collaboration and innovation in peacebuilding and human rights advocacy.
